![]() ![]() VMware vCenter Converter: 6.2.0 build-7348398 C: has the windows installation, D: is a partition for data and the 3rd one I am not sure what it contains I believe it has some kind of recovery software (?) The computer is an old laptop which has an internal Seagate drive with 3 partitions as it appears in the image attached. I tried un-successfully to convert only the active partition (C:) to the VM but the same problem appears. There is no boot.ini file on the boot drive and trying to reconfigure the VM didn't solve the problem as well. The conversion stops at 98% showing the message in the title. Restart several times the Physical Machine -> Same errorĪttached is the log file the installer generated ( invoking the installer: VMware-converter-all-5.5.0-292238.exe /v"/l*v VMwareInstall.log" ) -> Search for: '29142' Uninstall / Reinstall USB ports ( USB Root Hub ) in the Physical Machine -> Same error Several versions of 'vCenter Converter' from 4.3.0 to 5.5.3 ( all of them supporting installation in Windows XP ) -> Same error ![]() There is nothing attached to the laptop when I try to install 'vCenter Converter' ![]() Run 'vCenter Converter' installer using 'Administrator' account Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP3 Physical Machine: HP Compaq nw8440 ( laptop ) Event Viewer -> "The Vstor2 MntApi 2.0 Driver (shared) service failed to start due to the following error: A device attached to the system is not functioning" Error -> "Error 29142: Could not start service Vstor2 MntApi 2.0 Driver (shared)" Trying to install 'vCenter Converter', the installer fails with this error: ![]()
